Here is my latest attempt at a photo.
The main light in the living room was left on as the other half was watching tele and sewing at the same time. By the time it was switched off I was in bed!
Never the less a lesson learnt, and you can see me on the watch!!

Yeh I know well out of advert material, but I like it as first attempt under exceptional lighting circumstances, like no proper lighting, no proper background eg and no understanding. At least it is not at the normal angle!

  1. Hi Eric, I must disagree with you, 'well out of advert material', the photograph is very clear and in focus. These two elements are crucial when promoting any type of product, and you have achieved them both.

I have seen some 'professional' work where the photographer has jazzed up the background to the point that it is distracting from the actual product. Your background is simple and retains the emphasis on the actual watch.

We are photographers at the end of the day, and we have to work with what we have got. We use our own innovation to provide the client with what that want.

I think you have produced a very good shot here !

  2. Cheers Peter, thanks for the encouraging words, I like to try something different. I just need to get rid of my reflection, this is due to Louise having the main light on to do her sewing! I took it with my G12 after a tip I got from a lad in Jessops who does Jewellery photos, as the macro element is very good (this was not taken with the macro element)on the camera, and the camera is overall cheaper than a Macro lens, with more functions. The only thing I found was that could not use the self-timer function with the flash trigger?? need to work on that.

  3. You are welcome Eric. Our photo trips have encouraged me to look at other areas of photography including, dare I say it, 'people photography'.

Yes, I use my Fujifilm S7000 more for macro photography as it has two macro modes (normal and supermacro (which will focus down to 25mm !)). Macro lenses are too expensive for their more limited uses.

Would using a remote control / release work ?
